The IMROC study Supporting Recovery in Mental Health Services Quality and Outcomes offers suggestions for recovery-focused measures of quality. Recovery-focused measures of quality include measures of the extent services are organised around recovery principles, as well as personal measures of goal attainment and wellbeing.

Although national data relevant to recovery is limited, the paper cautiously recommends that the Adult Social Care Outcomes Framework 2015-16 provides measures relevant to achievement of socially valued goals. The Mental Health Services Data Set contains some measures of service use that may indicate the extent recovery is being supported by local providers and CCG areas.

NHS RightCare’s Mental Health Focus Packs aim to help local health economies explore variation and identify opportunities for improvement. They include information on employment and accommodation. The packs are personalised to each CCG area – see NHS Airedale, Wharfedale and Craven CCG as an example.
