A recovery-oriented, cross-governmental approach emphasising housing, employment and education has been at the core of mental health policy for over a decade New Horizons, Equity and Excellence Liberating the NHS and Mental Health and Work.
The Five Year Forward View for Mental Health emphasises the experiences of people who use services and the importance of housing, employment and the opportunity to develop meaningful relationships. Key recovery-based initiatives include Personal Budgets and Individual Placement Support.
