The National Audit of Schizophrenia provides audit data on physical health screening for mental health providers. My NHS Data for Better Services publishes data on two physical health care indicators for all mental health providers.
Information on physical health checks at primary care and Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) level is available in the Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF). Public Health England’s severe mental illness profiles uses the QOF data to compare CCGs that share similar population profiles. QOF based information is also displayed by CCG in the Atlas of Variation Mental Health 2015. The Open Public Services Network makes this information accessible for services users, carers and the public.
NHS RightCare’s Mental Health Focus Packs aim to help local health economies explore variation and identify opportunities for improvement. They include information on premature mortality and access to physical health monitoring. The packs are personalised to each CCG area – see NHS Airedale, Wharfedale and Craven CCG as an example.
Heart UK discusses the importance of national information in planning improvements in cardiovascular care for people with SMI.
